October is coming to a close which means that breast cancer awareness month is almost over. You can’t help but notice the increase in pink during the month of October. All women over 40 should consider getting a mammogram to be screened for breast cancer. And the guidelines from the American Cancer Society state that women over 45 should be getting screened regularly.
To support breast cancer awareness, I walked in the Walk for Life event in Columbia this past Saturday. The turnout was good and the event was really fun. Being surrounded by so many women – and men – supporting breast cancer awareness was inspiring. Even though the pink ribbons and events will diminish after October, awareness of breast cancer screening as well as other cancer screenings should continue to be discussed. Preventative care is the best way to stay healthy.
Did you do anything during the month of October to promote breast cancer awareness?
